Adopt Me...Please!
In April of this year, Tara joined the family at the Animal Adoption Center. She previously had spent the last three years of her life in a shelter which makes her very familiar with fenced in areas and her own special spots. In the past three months we have gotten to know her very well. Tara loves to go on hikes, swim in water and have her own little corner or kennel to make her own. Sadly, Tara is timid around men and it takes a while for her to adjust living in a home. Luckily we found a wonderful family that took Tara into their home and gave her the time and space for her to learn how to live in a home instead of a kennel situation. Now we are looking for her forever family.

The ideal home for Tara would be a house with a large backyard that is fenced in. She can live with men but will bond to a woman better. She gets along well with other dogs and can be quite playful when she gets in the mood.

If you are interested in meeting Tara or learning more about her, please stop by the Animal Adoption Center or call 307-739-1881.

Making a Difference
Each day kids come into the Animal Adoption Center excited and thrilled to be around the animals. We are thrilled that kids at such a young age are understanding the importance of proper animal care and compassion. Here are just a few people we would like to thank in making a difference to the animals:

The Animal Adoption Center would like to thank the Wildlife Film Festival for bringing their Photography Youth Camp to the AAC. The young photographers did an excellent job capturing the images of our orphans. The day after the photo shoot, the camp presented us with posters of the animals and discs full of photos. You can see some of their artwork in local coffee shops advertising the animals that are up for adoption.

Another successful event was the Forth of July. We had about nine kids that took on the responsibility of walking the dogs in the town parade. Some of the kids passed out candy while others passed out tennis balls with our logo. One little girl passed brochures out while saying, "Adopt an Animal, Save a Life!” To us, that was a very powerful phrase to hear a young kid say.

So this is a specific thank you to all the kids that help the animals at the center. We appreciate everything you do for us and the animals.

Have an extra Van laying around?
After a few years of loyal service the Animal Adoption Center's van for transporting animals has been retired. This van has helped save the lives of hundreds of animals from shelters in Idaho, Utah and several towns in Wyoming.

In order to safely transport our animals from shelters and vets to the AAC, we are needing a vehicle than can hold several animals at one time. We are looking for a generous animal lover that is willing to donate a vehicle of this description. This gift of a vehicle is a tax deductible donation.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Jen or Kara at 307-690-8642.

PAWS now offering FREE Spay/Neuter Vouchers!!
For more info about pet overpopulation, and some other great reasons why you should spay or neuter your pets, click here
In February 2007, PAWS launched its Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for residents of Teton County, WY. Everyone was eligible for some level of financial support. Each voucher had a specific value depending on the type of service and on the income level of the pet owner.

And now, in 2008, PAWS has just announced they will begin offering FREE Spay & Neuter Vouchers in 2008 to everyone in Teton County, WY. This new "no questions" asked” program would not have been possible without the collaboration of all of our local veterinarians, including:
Animal Care Clinic
Fish Creek Vet Clinic
Jackson Hole Vet Clinic
Spring Creek Animal Hospital
Teton Vet Clinic

This is absolutely fantastic news for both owned and homeless animals throughout Jackson Hole and beyond. With over 6 million abandoned animals being euthanized in shelters every year simply due to overcrowding, the single most important thing you can do is to spay or neuter your pets!!

Please talk to these vets today about the program or call PAWS for your FREE voucher at 307-734-2441! To learn more about the program you can also visit pawsofjh.org

THANK YOU Emily and Megan!
Our staff and animals are continually impressed and amazed by the initiative that kids are taking to help fund the Animal Adoption Center's mission. Emily and Megan are two local girls who donated all the proceeds from their lemonade stand to our rescues.
The event was hardly last minute or spontaneous. It was obvious that they put a lot of thought and planning into it. They sold lemonade, cookies, and dog treats at Hungry Jacks in Wilson. Not only did they raise money for our rescues, but they also raised awareness and publicized the animals that we currently have available to adopt. They had a huge informative poster telling their customers all about the AAC. There were print outs on the animals that the AAC currently has available. This well planned event helped to get money for our animals and get the word out.

When Helping Out Turns into a Business
The Animal Adoption Center would like to thank two young entrepreneurs who have donated all the proceeds from their little business to our rescues. Abby Hawkins and Merritt Vance, both 11 years old, run Abby Merritt Papers in Mclean, VA. They use reusable paper provided by their school, parents, and friends to create small notebooks. The girls sell the notebooks themselves and at a local café.

Merritt volunteers for the AAC consistently each summer. “I really trust you guys because I see how nice you are to the dogs,” she said. Knowing that the AAC is a 100% nonprofit organization that depends greatly on donations, she came up with a way to help out financially. Merritt and Abby’s business raised over $400. It is so inspiring when people so young take the initiative to help out.

AAC Angelic status can even be christened upon your animal-loving friends - a great gift for someone who already has everything…including enough pets of their own!

You can give the gift of love in many forms…
General donations to the AAC of any kind can be made as gifts as well, acknowledged with a certificate of heartfelt appreciation from all the orphans awaiting their forever homes at the Center. You can make a donation not only as a gift, but also in memory of a beloved pet or person. For customized gift requests, be sure to give us a call! We will
be happy to work with you.

All gifts to the Center are tax-deductible.

We're looking for volunteers!
Without volunteers the Animal Adoption Center could not exist. They are the backbone of this organization. We understand most people have busy, full lives, and have modeled our volunteer program around this. You can volunteer as much or as little as you'd like - we have volunteers who help daily, weekly and only for special events. We would like volunteers to do what it is they enjoy to the best of their abilities.

Volunteer programs include: Kitty City care, dog walking, foster care, animal shuttling and special event assistance.
Volunteers can also work in the Animal Adoption Center boutique, and help out with the animals!
Volunteers in all capacities play a crucial role in caring for, learning about and then getting our homeless animals adopted into qualified, loving homes.

You can make a difference in the life of an abandoned animal. At the Adoption Center we welcome and appreciate your participation! Come see us at 175 N Glenwood for more information.

Help the orphans while you're online!
You can earn money for the orphans at the AAC by simply...searching on the Internet?
Yes!
AAC is now a registered charity with GoodSearch

GoodSearch provides all Internet users with an easy way to donate to their favorite charities without ever having to tap into their own finances.

It's easy ... every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch.com, and select the Animal Adoption Center as your chosen charity, GoodSearch will donate to us!

Then, search the Internet just like you normally would — the site is powered by Yahoo!, so you'll get the same good search results you're used to.

GoodSearch is a search engine with a unique social mission which involves generously giving back to charity with every Web search. Their goal is to direct 50 percent of revenues to nonprofits chosed by users. All funds come from advertising revenues - there are no user fees!

It is estimated that each Web search will generate approximately a penny for the designated charity. It doesn't seem like much, but if you think about how many times you search the Internet every day, every week, each year, it quickly adds up! And the more you and other people use GoodSearch, the more money will be directed towards the orphans. There is no cap on how much money GoodSearch will direct to charity.

So tell everyone you know - GoodSearch does not do much advertising - and get searching! Our orphans will appreciate it!

Send us your stories!
Adopters...there have been hundreds of you, but each of you has your own wonderful story to tell. We want your stories!! We've had unbelievable tales of dogs surviving against the odds, and then ending up in happy, loving homes. We've had cats recover from neglect and, with new owners and tender lovin' care, let their funny and heart-warming personalities shine!!

To read some of our success stories, go to the "Who We Are" page, and then click on "Success Stories." You'll get some great laughs, maybe shed some tears, and you'll definitely want to help more animals find happy, healthy homes!
